Techerous

My name is Bill, I am a recent graduate in Information Sciences and Technology from Penn State University and this is a place for me to post or give my 2 cents on the fascinating world of technology. I am now working for a pretty big technology related company whose name I will leave out just to avoid any possible complications, however far-fetched them happening may be. Music gets included from time to time as well.

Could it really be that simple..?

rbgarz:

Buy a ticket to a movie at a theater, you get your choice of a hard or digital copy in future distribution at no charge. Buy a complete album & be able to attend one concert venue of the artist’s upcoming tour at no charge.

Oversimplify’s the cost of things a bit, but this could be a good promotional idea.

"While the “big four” record labels have seen their revenues plummet during the last decade, the music industry more broadly—encompassing independent labels, live performances, merchandise, music lessons, and the like—did extremely well. Statistics from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry indicates that the “broader music industry,” which included “revenues from music in radio advertising, recorded music sales, musical instrument sales, live performance revenues and portable digital music player sales (among a few other income categories)” grew from $132 billion to $168 billion"

Why We Shouldn’t Worry About The (Alleged) Decline Of The Music Industry - Forbes (via futuristgerd)

I’ve seen, and in some cases used, these arguments before and I feel like they only solve part of the equation.  Especially these days when so many artists are signed to 360 deals.  While it would be nice to believe these factors could allow a self-sustaining environment, it still shows these days that for bands to be really successful they still need major labels.

SO.
I’m not technically in SOMA anymore. But that club is awesome and they are bringing Atlas Sound (Bradford Cox of Deerhunter) to Penn State this coming Saturday. (For those of you in PA:  Here is the event page )
I’m not designing the event flyer. BUT I’m addicted to designing these things. So I figured there’s nothing wrong with making a commemorative poster, right? Right? Right.
Anyways. I caved. It’s not official, but I gotta admit I’m pretty proud of this one. Aaand I made a few different color variations. (Because I can never settle on just one)
Hope you guys like it. And if you can make it to this show, it’s free, so GO. Some really talented bands are opening.

The show is tonight guys! Hope to see you there! Thanks to our awesome past president for creating this amazing poster!

Everyone at Penn State should go check out this awesome free show SOMA (The club I used to be VP of) is putting on tonight! I don’t know how many sexual favors they needed to perform to get this guy to still come out but judging from what you’re all saying about the weather over there I’d imagine it was at least a few.

Community Things.: A campaign to save Community

greendale101:

We can do this, guys. Other shows have been able to save themselves from television Purgatory, and from what I’ve seen of the fanbase, we can too.

If you have the funds, buy any Community merchandise you can. Buy episodes on iTunes and Amazon, get mugs, shirts, DVDs, etc. Write…

Come on America, did we learn nothing from Arrested Development!?!

Don’t act like there is anyone in the world more qualified for this position.

true shit

FUND IT

♪Troy and Abed at the Os-cars!♪

Again, gotta break my blog’s purpose on account that this is an AWESOME idea.  Also Community is probably the best show on network television right now, with the exception of maybe Parks and Recreation.  It might get canceled due to poor ratings so please, start watching this show and we can all avoid another Arrested Development incident!
