My name is Bill, I am a recent graduate in Information Sciences and Technology from Penn State University and this is a place for me to post or give my 2 cents on the fascinating world of technology. I am now working for a pretty big technology related company whose name I will leave out just to avoid any possible complications, however far-fetched them happening may be. The biggest takeaway I think is that it is no longer enough to just be a musician, you have to have an entrepreneurial nature as well. If you can not take charge of your music yourself in the information age you can’t compete

I’ve seen, and in some cases used, these arguments before and I feel like they only solve part of the equation. Especially these days when so many artists are signed to 360 deals. While it would be nice to believe these factors could allow a self-sustaining environment, it still shows these days that for bands to be really successful they still need major labels.
